RESUMEN

For atomically thin two-dimensional materials, variations in layer thickness can result in significant changes in the electronic energy band structure and physicochemical properties, thereby influencing the carrier dynamics and device performance. In this work, we employ time- and energy-resolved photoemission electron microscopy to reveal the ultrafast carrier dynamics of PdSe2 with different layer thicknesses. We find that for few-layer PdSe2 with a semiconductor phase, an ultrafast hot carrier cooling on a timescale of approximately 0.3 ps and an ultrafast defect trapping on a timescale of approximately 1.3 ps are unveiled, followed by a slower decay of approximately tens of picoseconds. However, for bulk PdSe2 with a semimetal phase, only an ultrafast hot carrier cooling and a slower decay of approximately tens of picoseconds are observed, while the contribution of defect trapping is suppressed with the increase of layer number. Theoretical calculations of the electronic energy band structure further confirm the transition from a semiconductor to a semimetal. Our work demonstrates that TR- and ER-PEEM with ultrahigh spatiotemporal resolution and wide-field imaging capability has great advantages in revealing the intricate details of ultrafast carrier dynamics of nanomaterials.

BACKGROUND: Molecular subtyping is expected to enable precise treatment. However, reliable subtyping strategies for clinical application remains defective and controversial. Given the significance of tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion (TIDE), we aimed to develop a novel TIDE-based subtyping strategy to guide personalized immunotherapy in the bladder cancer (BC). METHODS: Transcriptome data of BC was used to evaluate the heterogeneity and the status of TIDE patterns. Subsequently, consensus clustering was applied to classify BC patients based on TIDE marker-genes. Patients' clinicopathological, molecular features and signaling pathways of the different TIDE subtypes were well characterized. We also utilize the deconvolution algorithms to analyze the tumor microenvironment, and further explore the sensitivity and mechanisms of each subtype to immunotherapy. Furthermore, BC patient clinical information, real-world BC samples and urine samples were collected for the validation of our findings, which were used for RNA-seq analysis, H&E staining, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Finally, we also explored the conservation of our novel TIDE subtypes in pan-cancers. RESULTS: We identified 69 TIDE biomarker genes and classified BC samples into three subtypes using consensus clustering. Subtype I showed the lowest TIDE status and malignancy with the best prognosis and highest sensitivity to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) treatment, which was enriched of metabolic related signaling pathways. Subtype III represented the highest TIDE status and malignancy with the poorest prognosis and resistance to ICB treatment, resulting from its inhibitory immune microenvironment and T cell terminal exhaustion. Subtype II was in a transitional state with intermediate TIDE level, malignancy, and prognosis. We further confirmed the existence and characteristics of our novel TIDE subtypes using real-world BC samples and collected patient clinical data. This subtyping method was proved to be more efficient than previous known methods in identifying non-responders to immunotherapy. We also propose that combining our TIDE subtypes with known biomarkers can potentially improve the sensitivity and specificity of these biomarkers. Moreover, besides guiding ICB treatment, this classification approach can assist in selecting the frontline or recommended drugs. Finally, we confirmed that the TIDE subtypes are conserved across the pan-tumors. CONCLUSIONS: Our novel TIDE-based subtyping method can serve as a powerful clinical tool for BC and pan-cancer patients, and potentially guiding personalized therapy decisions for selecting potential beneficiaries and excluding resistant patients of ICB therapy.

The topological photonics plays an important role in the fields of fundamental physics and photonic devices. The traditional method of designing topological system is based on the momentum space, which is not a direct and convenient way to grasp the topological properties, especially for the perturbative structures or coupled systems. Here, we propose an interdisciplinary approach to study the topological systems in real space through combining the information entropy and topological photonics. As a proof of concept, the Kagome model has been analyzed with information entropy. We reveal that the bandgap closing does not correspond to the topological edge state disappearing. This method can be used to identify the topological phase conveniently and directly, even the systems with perturbations or couplings. As a promotional validation, Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model and the valley-Hall photonic crystal have also been studied based on the information entropy method. This work provides a method to study topological photonic phase based on information theory, and brings inspiration to analyze the physical properties by taking advantage of interdisciplinarity.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of urethral-sparing laparoscopic simple prostatectomy (US-LSP) for the treatment of large-volume (>80 ml) benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with asymptomatic urethral stricture (urethral lumen > 16 Fr) after urethral stricture surgery. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed clinical data of 39 large-volume BPH patients with asymptomatic urethral stricture after urethral stricture surgery who underwent US-LSP from January 2016 to October 2021. Postoperative follow-ups were scheduled at 1, 3, and 6 months. RESULTS: All patients affected by significant BPH-related lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) including 22 cases with asymptomatic anterior urethral stricture and 17 cases with asymptomatic posterior urethral stricture. Median operative time was 118 min (interquartile range [IQR]100-145). Median estimated blood loss was 224 ml (IQR: 190-255). 33 patients(84.6%) avoided continuous bladder irrigation. Postoperative complications occurred in 5 patients (12.8%), including 4 cases with Clavien-Dindo grade 1 and grade 2 and 1 case with grade 3a. During follow-up, US-LSP presented statistically significant improvements in LUTS compared to baseline (P < 0.05). A total of 25 patients had normal ejaculation preoperatively and 3 patients (12%) complained retrograde ejaculation postoperatively. Two patients (5.1%) reported stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and no patient reported aggravated urethral stricture during follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: US-LSP was safe and effective in treating large-volume BPH with asymptomatic urethral stricture after urethral stricture surgery. Meanwhile, US-LSP could reduce the risk of SUI in patients with asymptomatic posterior urethral stricture and maintain ejaculatory function in a high percentage of patients.

Modulation of topological phase transition has been pursued by researchers in both condensed matter and optics research fields, and has been realized in Euclidean systems, such as topological photonic crystals, topological metamaterials, and coupled resonator arrays. However, the spin-controlled topological phase transition in non-Euclidean space has not yet been explored. Here, we propose a non-Euclidean configuration based on Möbius rings, and we demonstrate the spin-controlled transition between the topological edge state and the bulk state. The Möbius ring, which is designed to have an 8π period, has a square cross section at the twist beginning and the length/width evolves adiabatically along the loop, accompanied by conversion from transverse electric to transverse magnetic modes resulting from the spin-locked effect. The 8π period Möbius rings are used to construct Su-Schrieffer-Heeger configuration, and the configuration can support the topological edge states excited by circularly polarized light, and meanwhile a transition from the topological edge state to the bulk state can be realized by controlling circular polarization. In addition, the spin-controlled topological phase transition in non-Euclidean space is feasible for both Hermitian and non-Hermitian cases in 2D systems. This work provides a new degree of polarization to control topological photonic states based on the spin of Möbius rings and opens a way to tune the topological phase in non-Euclidean space.

Plasmon-induced hot-electron transfer at the metallic nanoparticle/semiconductor interface is the basis of plasmon-enhanced photocatalysis and energy harvesting. However, limited by the nanoscale size of hot spots and femtosecond time scale of hot-electron transfer, direct observation is still challenging. Herein, by using spatiotemporal-resolved photoemission electron microscopy with a two-color pump-probe beamline, we directly observed such a process with a concise system, the Au nanoparticle/monolayer transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) interface. The ultrafast hot-electron transfer from Au nanoparticles to monolayer TMDs and the plasmon-enhanced transfer process were directly measured and verified through an in situ comparison with the Au film/TMD interface and free TMDs. The lifetime at the Au nanoparticle/MoSe2 interface decreased from 410 to 42 fs, while the photoemission intensities exhibited a 27-fold increase compared to free MoSe2. We also measured the evolution of hot electrons in the energy distributions, indicating the hot-electron injection and decay happened in an ultrafast time scale of ∼50 fs without observable electron cooling.

PURPOSE: To compare the diagnostic ability of traditional radiographic urethrography and magnetic resonance urethrography (MRU) for iatrogenic bladder outlet obliteration (BOO), and explore the efficacy and complications of laparoscopic modified Y-V plasty for patients selected based on MRU evaluation. METHODS: 31 patients with obliteration segments ≤ 2 cm and no false passages or diverticula based on MRU evaluation from eight centers in China were included. Obliteration segments were measured preoperatively by MRU and conventional RUG/VCUG and compared with intra-operative measurements. Surgical effects were evaluated by uroflow rates, urethrography, or cystoscopy at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months post-operation and then every 12 months. Postoperative urinary continence was assessed by 24-h urine leakage (g/day). RESULTS: The results showed that MRU measured the length of obliteration more accurately than RUG/VCUG (MRU 0.91 ± 0.23 cm, RUG/VCUG 1.72 ± 1.08 cm, Actual length 0.96 ± 0.36 cm, p < 0.001), and clearly detected false passages and diverticula. Laparoscopic Y-V plasty was modified by incisions at 5 and 7 o'clock positions and double-layer suture with barbed sutures. All operations were successfully completed within a median time of 75 (62-192) minutes and without any complications. Urethral patency and urinary continence rates were 90.3% (28/31) and 87.1% (27/31), respectively. Three recurrences were cured by direct visual internal urethrotomy. Four patients had stress urinary incontinence after catheter removal 14 days post-operation, with urine leakage of 80-120 g/day, not relieved during follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic modified Y-V plasty based on MRU evaluation is a promising approach for iatrogenic BOO, with a high patency rate and a low incontinence rate.

Optical neural networks (ONNs) herald a new era in information and communication technologies and have implemented various intelligent applications. In an ONN, the activation function (AF) is a crucial component determining the network performances and on-chip AF devices are still in development. Here, we first demonstrate on-chip reconfigurable AF devices with phase activation fulfilled by dual-functional graphene/silicon (Gra/Si) heterojunctions. With optical modulation and detection in one device, time delays are shorter, energy consumption is lower, reconfigurability is higher and the device footprint is smaller than other on-chip AF strategies. The experimental modulation voltage (power) of our Gra/Si heterojunction achieves as low as 1 V (0.5 mW), superior to many pure silicon counterparts. In the photodetection aspect, a high responsivity of over 200 mA/W is realized. Special nonlinear functions generated are fed into a complex-valued ONN to challenge handwritten letters and image recognition tasks, showing improved accuracy and potential of high-efficient, all-component-integration on-chip ONN. Our results offer new insights for on-chip ONN devices and pave the way to high-performance integrated optoelectronic computing circuits.

Nonreciprocal interlayer coupling is difficult to practically implement in bilayer non-Hermitian topological photonic systems. In this work, we identify a similarity transformation between the Hamiltonians of systems with nonreciprocal interlayer coupling and on-site gain/loss. The similarity transformation is widely applicable, and we show its application in one- and two-dimensional bilayer topological systems as examples. The bilayer non-Hermitian system with nonreciprocal interlayer coupling, whose topological number can be defined using the gauge-smoothed Wilson loop, is topologically equivalent to the bilayer system with on-site gain/loss. We also show that the topological number of bilayer non-Hermitian C6v-typed domain-induced topological interface states can be defined in the same way as in the case of the bilayer non-Hermitian Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model. Our results show the relations between two microscopic provenances of the non-Hermiticity and provide a universal and convenient scheme for constructing and studying nonreciprocal interlayer coupling in bilayer non-Hermitian topological systems. This scheme is useful for observation of non-Hermitian skin effect in three-dimensional systems.

Purpose: The intent of this paper is to understand the effect of Physical Activity on university students' Subjective Well-being and to explore whether Perceived Health, Social Support, and Self-esteem play roles as mediating variables. Methods: Self-reported data from 404 college students (147 males and 257 females) were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The relationships between the study variables were tested by mediation models and 5,000 bootstrap samples using AMOS version 24. Results: (1) The six hypotheses were supported in the measurement model in the results (P < 0.05). Physical Activity was related to Social Support, Perceived Health, and to Self-esteem; Social Support, Perceived Health, and Self-esteem were all related to Subjective Well-being. However, the direct positive effect of Physical Activity gradually decreased in the order of Self-esteem, Social Support, and Perceived Health. The direct effect of Perceived Health, Social Support, and Self-esteem on Subjective Well-being also decreased sequentially. (2) In the Structural Equation Model (χ2 = 825.451, p < 0.001, df = 455, CMIN/df = 1.814, CFI = 0.942, RMSEA = 0.045), the three hypotheses of mediation were supported (P < 0.05), showing positive indirect effects between Physical Activity and Subjective Well-being. Of the three mediating effects, Social Support and Self-esteem were not different, and the mediating effect of Perceived Health showed the largest impact. This indicates that Social Support, Perceived Health, and Self-esteem mediate the effects of Physical Activity, and Subjective Well-being regulation has positive indirect effects. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the importance of meeting the needs of Social Support, Perceived Health, and Self-esteem when designing interventions to promote college students' sports participation to enhance Subjective Well-being.

BACKGROUND: Prostate cancer (PCA) is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with limited treatment options in the advanced stages. The immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) of PCA results in lower sensitivity to immunotherapy. Although molecular subtyping is expected to offer important clues for precision treatment of PCA, there is currently a shortage of dependable and effective molecular typing methods available for clinical practice. Therefore, we aim to propose a novel stemness-based classification approach to guide personalized clinical treatments, including immunotherapy. METHODS: An integrative multi-omics analysis of PCA was performed to evaluate stemness-level heterogeneities. Unsupervised hierarchical clustering was used to classify PCAs based on stemness signature genes. To make stemness-based patient classification more clinically applicable, a stemness subtype predictor was jointly developed by using four PCA datasets and 76 machine learning algorithms. RESULTS: We identified stemness signatures of PCA comprising 18 signaling pathways, by which we classified PCA samples into three stemness subtypes via unsupervised hierarchical clustering: low stemness (LS), medium stemness (MS), and high stemness (HS) subtypes. HS patients are sensitive to androgen deprivation therapy, taxanes, and immunotherapy and have the highest stemness, malignancy, tumor mutation load (TMB) levels, worst prognosis, and immunosuppression. LS patients are sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy but resistant to immunotherapy and have the lowest stemness, malignancy, and TMB levels, best prognosis, and the highest immune infiltration. MS patients represent an intermediate status of stemness, malignancy, and TMB levels with a moderate prognosis. We further demonstrated that these three stemness subtypes are conserved across pan-tumor. Additionally, the 9-gene stemness subtype predictor we developed has a comparable capability to 18 signaling pathways to make tumor diagnosis and to predict tumor recurrence, metastasis, progression, prognosis, and efficacy of different treatments. CONCLUSIONS: The three stemness subtypes we identified have the potential to be a powerful tool for clinical tumor molecular classification in PCA and pan-cancer, and to guide the selection of immunotherapy or other sensitive treatments for tumor patients.

Exploring ultrafast carrier dynamics is crucial for the materials' fundamental properties and device design. In this work, we employ time- and energy-resolved photoemission electron microscopy with tunable pump wavelengths from visible to near-infrared to reveal the ultrafast carrier dynamics of the elemental semiconductor tellurium. We find that two discrete sub-bands around the Γ point of the conduction band are involved in excited-state electron ultrafast relaxation and reveal that hot electrons first go through ultrafast intra sub-band cooling on a time scale of about 0.3 ps and then transfer from the higher sub-band to the lower one on a time scale of approximately 1 ps. Additionally, theoretical calculations reveal that the lower one has flat-band characteristics, possessing a large density of states and a long electron lifetime. Our work demonstrates that TR- and ER-PEEM with broad tunable pump wavelengths are powerful techniques in revealing the details of ultrafast carrier dynamics in time and energy domains.

Research has shown that social class is an important predictor of life satisfaction. However, the underlying mechanism for this relationship is yet to be fully elucidated. The study examined the underlying mechanism based on the social identity approach to health. Study 1 recruited 577 community residents to complete self-report questionnaires. Correlation analysis showed that social class, community identity, and life satisfaction were positively correlated with each other. Regression analysis showed that community identity mediated the relationship. To increase the replicability and derive causal inference of the results, Study 2 was a randomized control trial (N = 76) that used the resource-availability task to manipulate subjective social class, and found that life satisfaction in the lower-class group was significantly lower than that in the control group. Further analysis showed that social class predicted life satisfaction through the mediating role of community identity. The findings provide potential strategies to enhance community residents' life satisfaction.

Purpose: Drawing from the sociocultural-self model, this study aims to examine the influence of self-affirmation on the academic outcomes of lower-class migrant students, as well as the psychological mechanism underlying this phenomenon. Patients and Methods: A field experiment was conducted at a comprehensive secondary school in the southern region of China. Our study sample comprised 1534 immigrant students from diverse regions across the country, with an average proportion of 59.6% of students registered with a rural hukou. The hukou system plays a pivotal role in measuring social class in China, thus it was used as a proxy for lower and higher social class, with rural hukou students considered to be lower-class and urban hukou students considered to be higher-class. Prior to the English test, students in the self-affirmed group were engaged in a brief writing exercise that focused on their core values, whereas the control group wrote about a neutral topic. Results: The primary outcome of interest was the effect of self-affirmation on English test scores, whereas the secondary outcome was the students' survey stereotype threat. The results exhibit that self-affirmation more significantly improved the English test performance of lower-class students compared to higher-class students, and this positive effect was mediated by reducing stereotype threat. Conclusion: Our findings unravel the impact of self-affirmation on the academic performance of migrant students from different social classes and signify the mediating role of stereotype threat in this process. The present study extends previous findings to students from immigrant families in the Chinese cultural context, and these findings demonstrate that self-affirmation can constitute a promising intervention for stereotype threat and achievement gaps due to social class differences in immigrant family groups. Considering that this intervention takes only about 15 minutes of time, entails almost zero cost, does no harm, and that it focuses on disadvantaged immigrant students, it may provide valuable insights for educational policies to be implemented in a new type of migrant city such as Shenzhen.

Low-loss dielectric modes are important features and functional bases of fundamental optical components in on-chip optical devices. However, dielectric near-field modes are challenging to reveal with high spatiotemporal resolution and fast direct imaging. Herein, we present a method to address this issue by applying time-resolved photoemission electron microscopy to a low-dimensional wide-bandgap semiconductor, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN). Taking a low-loss dielectric planar waveguide as a fundamental structure, static vector near-field vortices with different topological charges and the spatiotemporal evolution of waveguide modes are directly revealed. With the lowest-order vortex structure, strong nanofocusing in real space is realized, while near-vertical photoemission in momentum space and narrow spread in energy space are simultaneously observed due to the atomically flat surface of hBN and the small photoemission horizon set by the limited photon energies. Our approach provides a strategy for the realization of flat photoemission emitters.

Objectives: To evaluate the effects of mirabegron in the treatment of overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) after radical prostatectomy (RP). Patients and methods: A total of 108 post-operative RP patients were randomly assigned to either the mirabegron (study) or the placebo (control) group. The Overactive Bladder Syndrome Self-Assessment Scale (OABSS) was selected as the primary endpoint, and the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and Quality of Life (QOL) score were selected as secondary endpoints. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26, and the treatment effects were compared between the two groups using independent samples t-test. Results: In total, 55 patients were included in the study group and 53 patients in the control group. The mean age was(70.08 ± 7.54)years. There was no statistical difference in the baseline data between the two groups. OABSS scores decreased significantly in the study group compared to the control group during drug treatment (6.67 ± 1.06 vs. 9.14 ± 1.83, p < 0.01) and were better than the control group during the follow-up at week 8 and week 12. In addition, the decrease in IPSS scores (11.29 ± 3.89 and 15.34 ± 3.54, p<0.01) and the increase in QOL scores (2.40 ± 0.81 vs. 3.20 ± 1.00) were statistically significant in the study group. And the patients in the study group had better improvement in voiding symptoms and quality of life than the control group during the follow-up period. Conclusion: Daily administration of 50 mg mirabegron after RP surgery significantly improved the symptoms of OAB after surgery with fewer side effects. Additional randomized controlled trials should be conducted in the future to further evaluate the efficacy and safety of mirabegron.

AIMS: The present study aimed to isolate a potential antagonist Bacillus sp. and evaluate its capacity for controlling pathogenic Vibrio parahaemolyticus in aquaculture. METHODS AND RESULTS: Strain JK08, which showed inhibitory activity against V. parahaemolyticus VP02r, was isolated from a Penaeus vannamei pond. Based on morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics and phylogenetic analysis, strain JK08 was identified as Bacillus sp. Through culture condition optimization, the maximal inhibition zone diameter (18.19 ± 0.16 mm) was observed when strain JK08 was cultivated at a temperature of 30°C, pH of 7, and salinity of 20‰ in Luria-Bertani broth for 24 h. The inhibition zone against V. parahaemolyticus VP02r of strain JK08 (∼7 µg, in mass of crude antimicrobial substance, per tablet) was larger than those (14-18 mm in diameter) of several commercial antibiotics (10 µg per tablet) in the in vitro antagonism assay. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis results indicated the presence of three families of lipopeptides in the antimicrobial substance: surfactin (C12-C17), iturin A (C14-C17), and fengycin A (C14-C17) and B (C17), which might be the key components contributing to the antagonistic activity of strain JK08. CONCLUSIONS: Strain JK08, which is capable of producing antibacterial lipopeptides, shows effective antagonistic activity against V. parahaemolyticus VP02r, implying its promising potential for V. parahaemolyticus control in aquaculture.

RESUMEN

The on-chip integrated visible microlaser is a core unit of high-speed visible-light communication with huge bandwidth resources, which needs robustness against fabrication errors, compressible linewidth, reducible threshold, and in-plane emission. However, until now, it has been a great challenge to meet these requirements simultaneously. Here, we report a scalable strategy to realize a robust on-chip integrated visible microlaser with further improved lasing performances enabled by the increased orders (n) of exceptional surfaces, and experimentally verify the strategy by demonstrating the performances of a second-order exceptional surface-tailored microlaser. We further prove the potential application of the strategy by discussing an exceptional surface-tailored topological microlaser with unique performances. This work lays a foundation for further development of on-chip integrated high-speed visible-light communication and processing systems, provides a platform for the fundamental study of non-Hermitian photonics, and proposes a feasible method of joint research for non-Hermitian photonics with nonlinear optics and topological photonics.

Computational thinking (CT) is important for students because it is one of the 21st century's skills. Reverse engineering pedagogy (REP) can improve students' CT due to its ability to develop students' cooperativity, algorithmic thinking, creativity, and problem-solving in discipline education. Thus, this study aimed to explore the effect of REP on primary school students' CT skills in STEM learning activities. A total of 101 fifth graders in a primary school participated in the study for one semester (16 weeks), including 51 students in the experimental group (EG) with REP, and 50 students in the control group (CG) with the demonstration method (DM). The computational thinking scale (CTS) was used to measure the CT skills of students in the pretest and posttest. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Mann-Whitney U test were used to analyze the data. The results verified that REP had a fine effect on the improvement of students' CT skills compared to the DM. The findings can provide some ideas for researchers to develop students' CT skills in STEM learning activities. Teachers can use different teaching methods to reasonably arrange teaching activities to develop primary school students' CT skills.

Galanin is a neurohormone as well as a neurotransmitter and plays versatile physiological roles for the neuroendocrine axis, such as regulating food intake, insulin level and somatostatin release. It is expressed in the central nervous system, including hypothalamus, pituitary, and the spinal cord, and colocalises with other neuronal peptides within neurons. Structural analyses reveal that the human galanin precursor is 104 amino acid (aa) residues in length, consisting of a mature galanin peptide (aa 33-62), and galanin message-associated peptide (GMAP; aa 63-104) at the C-terminus. GMAP appears to exhibit distinctive biological effects on anti-fungal activity and the spinal flexor reflex. Galanin-like peptide (GALP) has a similar structure to galanin and acts as a hypothalamic neuropeptide to mediate metabolism and reproduction, food intake, and body weight. Alarin, a differentially spliced variant of GALP, is specifically involved in vasoactive effect in the skin and ganglionic differentiation in neuroblastic tumors. Dysregulation of galanin, GALP and alarin has been implicated in various neuroendocrine conditions such as nociception, Alzheimer's disease, seizures, eating disorders, alcoholism, diabetes, and spinal cord conditions. Further delineation of the common and distinctive effects and mechanisms of various types of galanin family proteins could facilitate the design of therapeutic approaches for neuroendocrine diseases and spinal cord injury.
